David Glenn posted two open letters:

<<<The Existence of the German Clarinet is Endangered, Open Letter from
the Clarinetists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, (Wenzel Fuchs,
Peter Geisler, Walter Seyfarth, Karl-Heinz Steffens, Manfred Preis)=20

* * *
Standpoint of the Deutsche Klarinetten-Gesellschaft [German Clarinet
Society]>>>

Thanks very much, David, for posting these.

I find the position taken in the letters most interesting, given that --
at least according to Alesandro Carbonare's web page -- "Alessandro
Carbonare has been invited by the Berliner Philarmoniker to perform as
First Clarinettist for the 2000/2001 season."

Is Mr. Carbonare switching to the Oehler system for this gig? Was there
a similar outcry if not?
