Tony,

Scotty sells his barrels from home. Contact him at:

C. Robert Scott
2930 Sunderland Rd
Lansing, MI 48911-1556
Phone 001 (517) 882-9098

They're made of Delrin (or similar material) stock; either the entire
barrel, or a liner for your wood barrel. Configurations (at one time, at
least) include the "a2" (more free-blowing) which has a "lighter,"
"brighter" sound, and the "aa2" (more resistant) which elicits stronger
odd-numbered partials, thus more "depth" and "ping." Scotty likes the
"aa2" better because its bore configuration is one chosen by Keith Stein
during an informal test situation many years ago, in which Scotty played
a variety of barrels with Stein listening.

Scotty's barrels may also be available from various retail outlets, but
I'm not aware of them.

The barrels do help! They're especially good at evening out
register-related tonal differences and bringing sharp throat tones down.

Kent
