Hi Tony,

Many years ago I had a private teacher who played Leblanc LL clarinets.
He didn't like the stock barrel and ended up playing on a Robert Scott
barrel (65aa). I believe they have models for Buffet, Leblanc, and
Yamaha clarinets but I have only used and seen the Buffet style,
nevertheless I do play on the same model Scott barrel as my teacher had
on my Leblanc Opus when I need to tune higher than normal. These
barrels don't seem to have as much taper (inside or out!) -- a lot like
the Leblanc LL's. So you might just be able to get away with using the
same setup on your newer instruments :)

barrels. I`ll be looking round the spare barrel boxes here, & I`ll

the barrels of JIm Pyne if I can get to know how to contact him.

What complicates things still further tho` is I`m told that my present
set
up of Leblanc Opus is different from the old LL`s, enough to even make
using
the same (my current) mouthpiece for <both> instruments incompatible.

I would think that this is a problem unresolvable enough to think that
the
only recourse is to get rid of my LL`s forthwith. Any thoughts, or
agreements? Could Walter come in, or am I not being comprehensive enough
with my specifications?

I had a student a couple years ago who owned a LL model and Jim Pyne had

barrel which worked pretty well on it. Write or call Mr. Pyne.

I have found on my old Leblanc L300 that I have to use
barrel WITHOUT a large taper like the traditional
Leblancs had/have (acousticians please correct me if
this is wrong.) The Buffet, Yamaha, and Selmer
clarinets came with tapered bore barrels (I have tried
different barrels from each on my Leblanc, and
although I can get a different resistance and sound,
the scale suffers emmensely.

Try finding Leblancs such as LX, LL or L300 models in
pawn shops, and trying the barrels out on them. You
might also call notable repairmen in your area that
service Leblancs and ask about buying old barrels, or
getting a new barrel for the LX, LL, or L300 from a
mail order company. The LLs are still being made, as
far as I know. One last option...I'm not fond of them,
but the accubore barrels come in a Leblanc taper model
(or they did last time I tried them 3 or 4 years ago.)
