Elvis, Clapton, the early Jazz guys, etc., weren't musicians? Please.
A long time ago I talked with a violinist who had been in an orchestra
in New York City. He contended that most orchestra players are little
more than automatons, that their playing had no more musicality than
turning on the radio. As far as he was concerned, the top rock artists
were much more complete musicians than almost all of the folks he played
with.
