To the Soundcam? I'm not sure I follow you...

You can record to DAT and dump to a compute to edit. That is a very common
thing to do. You can also record directly to the computer from an analog or
digital source. Recording to hard disc is actually becoming quite popular
in the Pro Audio field. If you are talking about going through the DAT to
get into the computer, many DAT machines would allow that too... You are
then just using it for its Analog to Digital Converters.

Using a separate set of A-D converters is also a common thing to do as stand
alone converters are going to be much higher quality than stock converters
in a recorder. That, though, is getting higher end than I think you want to
go. (External A-Ds generally start at about $800-$1000 and can go to well
over $10,000)
