I have an Akai DPS12, which is a similar kind of beast. I like it very
much--it's pretty intuitive to use and there is no signal compression at
all. I am not intimately familiar with DAT so i can't really compare the
two, but i will say that any problems i have with recording now happen
before the signal gets to the recorder...the DPS12 has a 2-GB hard drive
(althought the earlier ones only had a zip drive). Room to record over many
times...
