Dee and List,

As an afterthought, flutes are often built with the same anomaly, that
being that the point of juncture between main body and head joint are
sometimes put in different places.

A basic way to ballpark a flute section when trying to get some
semblance of tuning, is to first check head cork position and then eye
ball and pull head joints so that all flutes come close to being the
same length from embouchure plate hole to the top two trill key holes.
While this is possibly an oversimplification it is, at least, a start.
