"......some people prefer a closed mouthpiece with a hollow table ....." =

My line of mouthpieces fall into a broader catagory than one may =
conclude from this description.
There are two styles about which other information may be referenced at =
my website.

In general, the Old Chedeville style has, amongst many other equally =
important variables reflective of this style, a relatively close tip =
opening (but in general not as close as the Hawkins). The style of =
concavity in the table gives the mouthpiece a more "medium" feel to the =
tip opening than the tip opening number may imply.=20

The Old Kaspar style has, amongst many other equally important variables =
reflective of this style, a medium tip opening equivalent to the =
original Kaspar 11 (perhaps his most successful symphonic facing) and a =
flat table.

Therefore I would refer to both mouthpieces, in comparison to the =
plethora of mouthpieces available, as medium facing mouthpieces that =
work most successfully with a medium strength reed such as the V12 3.5 =
or 4.

The two differing styles are designed according to my philosophy of =
appealing to a broad range of clarinetists, many of whom come from quite =
differing styles to begin with.
