Greetings Laura,
Just wanted to let you know that as a former
high school band director of 10 years, choosing
a drum major was usually a difficult decision. For
me the most important issue was how the band
was going to sound, and with this in mind please
note that the best players were always kept
playing their instruments! : )
As for bass clarinet pieces, you might have
fun learning the Bach Cello Suites. If you are
serious about the clarinet, which it sounds as if
you are, reading them from the original music
to learn bass clef might be helpful. I'm
not certain as to the best transcriptions of Suites
for Bass, but I'm sure someone on the list will
know.
Best of luck to you!
