Roger Garrett says:

I agree with Roger, here, 100%.

The 5RV line appears to be made from quite a different blank (read mold) than other Vandoren mouthpieces. It also seems that there is a real attempt at quality control. A few years ago, a friend of mine, and a fine clarinetist, purchased a 5RV Lyre and sounded really nice on it.

When I examined the mouthpiece (alas, I didn't have my tools, so I didn't get measurements) I was impressed with the quality of manufacture.

It really made me stop and wonder where the original blank came from. Does anybody out there know?
