Bill,

An interesting observation, but one that is consistent with most of the
subjects that are discussed. There seem to be a large quantity of expert
opinions on the list plus enough people to ask for their opinions. (And
then, of course, duck for the fallout. <g>)

As far as what is on the stand, I don't know how many people fit it my
classification. I'm 57 years old. Thanks to an accident several years ago,
I had to have surgery on my diaphragm. For years afterwards, I had enough
breath support of about 1 measure. It was very demoralizing and I quit
trying for quite a while. It's taken longer to get things working than it
did to start with. (It still isn't all back.) The technical aspect has
come back more quickly.

I obviously don't play professionally any more, but as far as Mozart,
Brahms, Weber, etc., those were things I studied and played in the
sixties-seventies. (And I'm not suggesting it wouldn't benefit me to
restudy them. As a matter of fact, I have a new copy of the Mozart in a
version suggested here.) That was a part of my "joke" about the printed
price on my study books. Most were bought originally int he sixties &
seventies, although I can't find my copy of Rose.

However, since I don't have any pressure to perform, I can play for my
interests, only. Within the last couple of years, I've discovered the music
of Franz Danzi, and simply love it. I've bought several different works by
him to enjoy working on.

It's been fun to see what others are playing. I've made notes of things to
check out. Of course, I get the digest so I haven't got a thousand emails
about it.
