My community orchestra just sent its schedule out for next year. I
badly need to practice (or practice badly?)

3 things on the stand:

1) Excerpts for Berlioz, Symphony Fantastique;

2) Excerpts for Ravel, Daphnis & Chloe; and

3) a tired metronome.

Peter Hadcock's book "The Working Clarinetist" has a chapter on the
Ravel -- a whole lot of the part, plus commentary on fingering approach.
It's been very helpful. (His section on how to use the metronome is
pretty helpful, too). It's a terrific book.
