this year my bass clarinet (a Frere Martin from 1896) got a complete
overhaul in Utrecht. It cost me Dfl 400, some 350 DM. And it really

This is unbelievable cheap. My teacher had a complete overhaul of her
pair (Bb/A) of Oehler system clarinets and paid about 3000,- DM; I
guess it was made in Nuernberg (Bavaria).

In the Internet I found a repairsman in Berlin; complete overhaul
prices:

Boehm 17/6 760,- DM
Oehler 965,- DM
Bass -Eb 1380,- DM
Bass -C 1780,- DM

(1 USD @-----.3 DM)

So you can be really lucky.

COMPLETE overhaul"suddenly it played in une and with much greater ease, all
keys close perfectly again, etc. I really can advice you Van Ingen
Blaasinstrumenten in Utrecht: for the difference in price you could make the
trip even from as far away as Dresden (or Freiburg, for that sake), bring
your instrument to Dick, come and see me, and pick a better instrument up
again!
