It is Sterling silver -- treat it like you would any other piece of
Sterling silver. Other than possibly removing the head cork first, you
should be able to wash it and polish it, Tarn-X it, or whatever. The body
can also be done that way, since it is no doubt silver plated. Of course,
to wash it or immerse it in anything you would have to remove ALL keys
first. For light outside polishing, and for polishing the keys, I
recommend the chemical-treated cloths sold by Selmer and others. They do a
good job of removing tarnish and you don't get polish buildup in the nooks
and crannies. Stronger polishing cloths with abrasives are not recommended
except to remove HEAVY tarnish. Overuse of these will eventually wear the
silver plate off.
