Tony, I love what you had to say about students learning melodies from
specific periods of music history. I have often thought, during a lesson
with a young student, for instance, "I wish I had the opening of
Tchaikovsky's 5th symphony right at my fingertips, to give as an
assignment that was part of a method book". Same thoughts for themes
from Dvorsak's New World Symphony. Sometimes I have written out melodies
from memory. ANNIE
