Subj: [kl] Symposium in Freiburg
Date: Sun, 1 Jul 2001 12:06:45 -0400

Recently on the list, there has been some discussion about music as
related to speach. In Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, there is a
symposium on this very subject. The language is presumably German. It is
from 28 to 30 June in the "Haus zur Lieben Hand" (Loewenstrasse 16, just
off the Kaiser-Joseph-Strasse nr. KG III in downtown pedestrian
precinct). Free admission and no registration required. It is presented
by the musicology dept. of the Albert-Ludwig-University, Freiburg.
Fourteen speakers from Germany and abroad will speak.

On Friday Max Haas (Basle, Switzerland) and Adolf Nowak (Frankfurt) will
speak on "Music and Speach before 1600". Following subjects are
"Thoughts from Philosophy, Liturature and Speach Sciences" and "Music
and Speach in the 18th and 19th centuries. On the last day, one can hear
Sabine Sanio (Berlin) and Peter Niklas Wilson (Hamburg) on the 20th
century.
