I'm not sure they're the same animal, but I've been playing on a Selmer
Series 9* set (A & Bb) that I chose and bought in 1961. The A came with one
barrel. The Bb came with a "standard" -- whatever that might mean -- and
another marked "2 mm short". In most situations the standard worked fine.
I never found that either instrument had a problem playing sharp in the
lower register. (And again, 9 & 9* may not be the same critter, at all.)
(I also bought a "matching" Selmer Bass Clarinet at the same time. It was
stolen 25 years ago, but that's another story.) I would agree with whoever
said straighten out the barrel situation before making a final decision.
Somewhere, there must be a barrel that matches that particular clarinet.

(My teachers all played either Buffet or LeBlanc, but I've always been drawn
to and happy with the Selmer instruments.)
