Dear Jennifer -

As noted in my "correction", my concern is with the 2nd Book, Part 5 of the
Baermann. I just checked the flagged half notes as breath marks. You may
be correct, but some seem ill-placed (in the middle of 16th note arpeggio,
for instance) and too numerous, unless they are for "breathing challenged"
players. Granted that some are well placed. I guess that I am fortunate to
be blessed with good lungs.

I was hoping that there is a Fischer Edition of the Part 5 that had
eliminated the excess markings, as I have the Fischer Baermann Third
Division that has none of them.

Still hoping for an "uncluttered" Baermann 5.

Regards,

Gene Nibbelin

The flagged half notes are breath marks. The notes after exercese 3 on
page 28 of the carl Fisher edition of the combined forst and second
divisions indicate this. I do agree that the fourth and fifth divisions
are rather cluttered, but can't help you there.

Good luck!

Best,
