Hello,

I was on holidays, so I missed your post.

Some comments to printed music:
I hate it, if you have to turn pages in the middle of important
passages and on the bottom of the page there is of course the copyright
information. What do you do? Copy the next page and break the law or give
up playing the whole piece? Needless to say that you have a 10 measures
break shortly afterwards (as it is in a potpourri of Phantom of the
opera).

As I am responsible for the sheet music of our band, I often see bad
printing. E.g. an arrangement for Strauss' Kaiserwalzer: Some sheets have
a big picture on the first page, some have not (good if you search for a
specific instrument part ;-) ) some have three pages in one oversized
paper on one side (this is good), others must turn pages at impossible
positions (but also three pages total).

Another thing especially in wind orchestra: Often you do not have a (I
lose my words. In german it is 'Partitur' and 'Direktion') ...(?)
so everything possible is printed in small notes into the first clarinet
part. Sight reading becomes a true adventure then :-)

A side remark according to unplayable parts: A long long time ago I was
confronted with Gershwin's Cuban Overture (never performed it). Does
anyone know a recording, were the first measures are played as they are
printed? I only have one recording and there the wood section only plays
trills.

Greetings
Christian
