Subj: [kl] Mouthpiece cap for Contra-Bass (BBb) clarinet needed
Date: Sun, 24 Jun 2001 19:31:21 -0400

Hello,

I recently got my used LeBlanc contra-bass (BBb) clarinet. It came with a
good mouthpiece and ligature, but the mouthpiece cap is small, and seems to
be the one for a Bass Clarinet. It only partially covers and protects the
reed, but in an awkward fashion and I don't like to have to force anything
on my big LeBlanc. A mouthpiece cap is important, though, because of the
maneuvering one has to do to get the big horn all set up to play (mine is
the long straight version, not the 'paper-clip.')

I am not aware of a source for such a cap. The places where I've found
reeds and mouthpieces available have all been missing a listed cap. Any
leads that can be provided on where I would find such a cap will be
appreciated.

Also, one other question: Is anybody aware of a stand that I can use to
rest my horn when it's not in use. It's as tall as I am and ungainly to
prop up against the wall (and I'm afraid it will fall). I realize there
probably isn't much of a market for such a stand, but I hope one is
available from somewhere. If plans have ever been published on
constructing one, those would be appreciated as well.
