<grin> It's always fun to turn things upside down and make a 'plus'
out of a 'minus', but seriously:

The Vandoren advertisement says that V12 is thicker and intended
for the 'advanced' clarinetist. This is another statement that can be
turned upside down. You could say that a thicker reed is intended for
beginners because it isn't as sensitive to the vagaries of a beginner's
unstable embouchure. That is, changes in pressure don't have as much
effect on how it bends. Whereas a skilled player wants a thinner reed
in order that he or she can do more with it.
I have bounced back and forth between V12 and Zonda several times
now for this reason.
