Walter, maybe you misunderstood my message. My email was not an advice
for other people, it was just my personal opinion, or call it personal
taste. It is also not for acustical reasons - I do not claim that
generally one screw ligatures are better nor I think so -, I find it
simply more comfortable. Call it naive or not. I would not.

Dirk

Mark, you are right. Both (Rovner dark/Vandoren optimum) do have one screw. My last sentence was just generally spoken. I think I would never consider to buy a ligature with more than one screw.>>>

Dirk, I think the experience of hundreds of clarinetists past and present would prove your statement to be naive.

I do have several ligatures, Rovner and BG with the one screw design, and I do use them on occassion. I also have a wonderful Bay, an old Kaspar, and a 50 year old B&H liguture to die for. They all have two screws.

Bet I could sell the old Kaspar ligature for $200, and there would be no end of people that would want to buy it (no way, folks).

There is a place for many different designs. Different, halls, different reeds, etc.

I appreciate that you have an opinion, and are wanting to be helpful. Please be aware, however, of the realities before making blanket statements.

Walter Grabner
