Mine (Bb instrument) isn't. Everyone's hand is unique, of course;
but I had a lot of trouble with my thumb in the beginning --- until I
examined my hand while it was relaxed and not gripping anything, and I
realized that my thumb doesn't belong there.

I'm embarrassed that I've read so many messages on this topic
without thinking to make the comment that you just made, Ben.

I wonder how many people suffer these pains simply because their
thumb isn't positioned where it wants to go when it is relaxed and not
gripping anything?
