The ligature can have a positive influence on how a reed will respond. They
are expensive, though.

Neil's experience with it slipping is undoubtedly do to the ligature and
mouthpiece having incompatible tapers. I've used this ligature on some
mouthpiece and had a most stable and gripping arrangement.
