There is a local eating establishment near where I live, (in the middle
of wine country) that saved wine corks until they had enough to use as
trim molding for all the dinning rooms and bar and as picture frames
around everything. Maybe you could convince your local music store or
repair shop that they could start a new trend and gain more customers by
making their store a place of refuge for unwanted bad reeds by allowing
the customer glue the reeds on the walls. Enough of them would become
an positive insulating factor and help save energy on heating and
cooling costs.

You could also drill holes in the reeds, string them together in 7 foot
lengths and use them as a curtain for the entrance to your _________
(fill in the blank).
