As you responded to my e-mail about Buffet Festival clarinets, and the price
difference that I discovered when I replaced my stolen set of Buffet RC
Prestige instruments, I will only add that I can not explain the huge
difference either, except to say that it has to due with marketing.

In doing research, I found very little information about the Festival
instruments, including little or no information in the catalogue or price
list. However, the RC Prestige was listed, and when compared to standard RC
or R-13 instruments, there is an obvious price difference.

As I stated previously, and you stated in your post, there is no obvious
difference in the materials or keywork. As the quality is the same, one
would expect the price to be the same or similar.

I really do not understand why there is a difference in the price
between Festival and RC Prestige in the US. I think everywhere in
Europe they have the SAME price. For me it is obvious that they are
of the same quality (material, keywork). The only difference is the
bore.

One advantage that the Festival clarinets may have over the Prestige
instruments is price. Without going into specifics, I saved over $2200
buy
purchasing Festivals and not replacing the Prestige. In my opinion, much
of
the difference in cost is marketing, and NOT the quality of the
instruments.
