The typical length for a 440 playing set of clarinet barrels is 65mm and
66mm. The A clarinet has a bizarre tendency to play slightly flat for me
(and for other players I've played beside), and the Bb has a tendency to
play sharp. (Ironic, no?...The clarinet keyed for playing in sharps is
flat, and vice versa.) As far as bore changes, that may or may not occur
with manufacturers' barrels (I wouldn't know), I'm quite certain that it
doesn't occur with all personal barrels. I used barrels by Robert Scott
in order to compensate for some of the R13's minor quirks, and I can
switch between the 65, 66, and 67mm barrels on my instruments and not
really get a change in tone color, just pitch. If there was a significant
bore difference between the A and the Bb, with the barrel compensating,
then I'm quite certain that I would FEEL it in a barrel switch, and hear
it as well.

And then again, I've nae been playing half as long as many of the players
on this list, and therefore, I may not be attuned to it yet.

Speaking of which...I don't seem to have all the current catalogues from
Muncy's, Weiner's, IMS, and WW/BW. Could someone with those catalogues be
kind enough to look up the prices of Scott barrels? I'm selling a
clarinet that has a 65 (that, I might add, is not particularly receptive
to mouthpieces) and plays a little high, but plays nicely with my Scott
66. I need to buy one cheap, since I AM poor (I'm not getting into that
again), and I would like to use this clarinet to make a little bit of
money.

(If you're interested, it's an old wooden Evette, K-series serial,
slightly pre-R13. Fully repadded, sounds fantastic but my R13 has just a
little more projection. I'd like to sell it on Ebay for at least $600...)

Thanks for any help!
