And let us state once again, that if you are interested in these things
(and
if you're a musician, dammit you _should_ be interested) that questions
such as these are covered nicely in Arthur Benade's infomative, witty,
and cheap book " Horns, Strings, and Harmony " and if you want more
gory details, in his "Fundamentals of Musical Acoustics ".
