My tongue is short and I was born tongue-tied. As a result, I can't flutter
tongue and it's been hard for me to learn to tongue cleanly. I do OK now
thanks to lots of work on it, but I still will never tongue super fast. I
think that when the tongue is too short, the tip of the tongue is not small
enough and the portion of the tongue you work with when you play can be too
broad to flutter. Perhaps the tongue can be too long as well, but then one
could anchor tongue I suppose.
