Hi Anne,

There are a couple of "pre-Rose" books I've
had fun with and they are:
The Progressing Clarinetist (book 1)
The Advancing Clarinetist (book 2)
The first book reminds me of easy Rose and
the second reminds me of easy Cavallini. They
are great for teaching chord progressions and
each advance in a very thoughtful way. Certain
issues come up with each etude and it's fun
to add an improvised duet part as the student
plays what's written. In the first book there is
a nice little etude repeated on the following page
in a different key. The books are published by
Carl Fisher, ISBN 0-8258-2199-1.
