Thanks to all for the information and reassurance.

I am very excited that we've been able to borrow the instrument, the
community college budget would not include purchase of a contra any time
soon.
The public schools here changed from junior high (7-9th grade) to middle
schools (6-8) a few years ago. And several of the former high schools
have contra-alto instruments sitting in storage because as one of those
band directors said, "It is hard enough to find students that age who are
physically big enough to handle a bass clarinet, let alone the contra."
I came thru high school and college when the low clarinets were not
being used. What fun now!!!

The summer group is clarinet choir, so i get to write EEb parts if not
included in the arrangements, since there aren't bari sax, bassoon or
tuba parts to borrow. ( ;-o).

So, looking forward to fall term and wind ensemble with the contra-alto,
especially if once again we don't have a bari-sax.
