Subj: [kl] Recommendation: Instrument stand

I've spending a very frustrating year trying to arrange times that I could
teach private lessons (at the request of the school administration,
director, and parents) at the school. Everybody wants lessons for the
students, but the school system wasn't interested that I work for a living
and couldn't teach during school hours. They wouldn't allow facilities to
be used after school or on weekends, unless a teacher is present.

We've decided to build an addition to the house, which will enable me to
move a lot of "crap" out of my office, so I've decided to offer lessons one
or two late afternoons a week and perhaps Saturday morning in my home
office.

I would like to set up my Bb and my flute on a stand, where they are
available for demos or duos ... BUT I have two very curious cats. I want a
stand that's nice and sturdy in case Rascal or Midnight decide to take a
sniff-and-rub against one of the instruments, so they don't wind up in the
floor. (I guess I could play a few passages on the oboe, and run them to
the opposite end of the house. They really dispise the oboe. <g>)

Any suggestions -- short of pieces of broomsticks held up by sandbags???

Thanks, Jim Hobby
