Someone phoned me up and said to tune in "Schickele Mix", so I caught most of
one broadcast but didn't know about the other one. I wish I heard them both.
I thought I read somewhere that Peter Schickele plays the clarinet.

He wrote some music (serious, not P.D.Q. Bach) for clarinet. There is a
piece called "Windows" for guitar and either clarinet, oboe or flute. He
also wrote "Dances for 3," for 3 clarinets and "Elegy" for clarinet and
piano. Some of his clarinet music was on the broadcast. So he didn't need to
read these messages to learn about clarinets.

In the part I heard, he explained the different kinds of clarinet and why the
clarinet is a tuning instrument. The clarinet pieces were great examples,
showing the different sounds clarinets can make. But, I wished he would have
skipped pretending somebody phoned him, with complaints and questions that he
had to answer. He can be very funny, but I think he has done that phone
routine so much that it has started sounding lame. He could use the time
better, just explaining more without pretending he is arguing with somebody.
The explanation of a tuning instrument was too short for people who didn't
know it already. My friend phoned me back up later, and she asked me to
explain his explanation because she didn't get it. She listens to music a lot
but she can't play any instrument. I had a hard time trying to explain to a
non musician, even though I could take as much time as I wanted instead of
having a radio time limit, so I appreciated Peter Schikele's explanation
more, after I tried and failed to do better!
