As a first step, you might check to see that the instrument is mechanically
sound. Contras are notorious for getting out of adjustment very easily. The
longer rods are very easily bent and some of that damager can easily occur in
the case while it is being transported. Do not grasp the keys and roda too
hard when putting it together or oyu will surely bend something. They are
like big babbies. Even though they are large, contras seem (in my opinion)
to be the most delicate of the clarinet family in terms of keys bending,
adjustments, and those big pads not sealing just right.
