Actually, I have learned thru actual bore modification work that Gibson is
quite right. Play a chalumeau Bb and then play an unlipped clarinet F.
Unless, the minimum central bore is exactly right the twelfth will be off.
The interval will be wide with too small a bore and and narrow with too
large a bore. Another way of checking for the correct bore is to play a
clarinet F and close the register key. If the bore is right the pitch will
not change. (Of course, the tone will.)
