This particular band plays a couple of Mardis Gras Mambo-type tunes that
I have never heard of, but they are a lot of fun. They also like to
modulate chromatically in blues medleys, one tune "Confessin' the Blues"
that moves around in a few keys. The reason the band is so popular is
because they do a few tunes that nobody has ever heard of, in odd keys.
Tonight they did "Ooo, what a little moonlight can do" that sounded like
a 2-step, bebop polka, and I can't even remember the key, but it just
jumped around all over the place, and I was glad I had memorized the
lick in Charlie Parker's "Donna Lee", which helped to keep me out of
trouble somewhat. I still screwed up, but it was fun. You had to be
there. I can't describe it. ANNIE

What tunes do you play in A major? Granted, I've only worked out of about
half of the Real Book and half of the Real Book Vol.II...but off the top
of my head, I can't remember having to play anything in five sharps except
when playing alto sax (Wave, Make Me Smile, My Favorite Things...but
that's actually in minor...).
