FYI: This particular phnomona is fairly common (don't have exact numbers =
at hand and am busy...) - it is often listed as "white-coat hypertension" =
(the white coat being that of the doctor/clinician who is taking the =
blood pressure). =20

RE: the beta blockers - I have some references that various people may =
find useful but am too busy to get them now. I'll try to get them =

It's very interesting. The soprano with whom I regularly
perform chamber music doesn't have high blood pressure, but
there is a history of it in her family. She related to me
last night how her blood pressure shoots through the roof
at the mere *mention* of a sphygmomanometer (blood pressure
