It's very interesting. The soprano with whom I regularly
perform chamber music doesn't have high blood pressure, but
there is a history of it in her family. She related to me
last night how her blood pressure shoots through the roof
at the mere *mention* of a sphygmomanometer (blood pressure
gauge). Somehow it was determined that she doesn't actually
have high blood pressure. I thought it was fascinating how
powerful the mind is over the body. Her fear of the problem
causes her to have a psychosomatic reaction when she herself
is to be tested.
