Stop me if you've heard me tell this before... (well, you can't, can
you... ;-)

I saw Julius Baker do a master class. The student came out, and began an
elaborate tuning ritual, which Baker waved off in a very theatrical way.
He offered "If you don't know where that thing plays by now, it's too
late. When you walk out here and 'tune', you're just checking to make
sure it still works."

An interesting perspective.
