Hello,

I do have a small and very simple question to ask (it's a little
embarrassing to tell the truth, considering all the complex and highly
intellectual conversations you all seem to be having, but.....). At the the
moment I am playing on a Buffet E13 Clarinet, but I can't seem to decide on
a mouthpiece. I've been playing on a 5RV, but I then tried the Vandoren
B45., and although it's nicer to play and I prefer the tone, the tuning's
not as good as the 5RV. Any advice?

Also.....any recommendations for Eb Clarinet mouthpieces would be great

Thanks

Debbie

Debbie,

Unless you feel some great affinity to Vandoren, please don't restrict
yourself to their products only. There are other good manufacturers out
there, too. When I was learning, I only ever played on a Vandoren mpc, but I
now predominantly use either the Brilhart "special" (essentially a student
mouthpiece, but it suits me really well - I don't think these are still
being made as I've not seen one for years) or more frequently the Pomarico
"Sapphire" (a pro-standard crystal mouthpiece - available in UK from John
Myatt's in Hitchin, Herts : http://www.myatt.co.uk)
Cheers

Ian
