I re-faced a mouthpiece yesterday, and I can't stop thinking about it.

Walter, if I asked you to build a mouthpiece with a certain
peculiarity to it, you might ask me:

"Bill, are you sure that you want to do this? It won't play very
well because [....]"

If I replied, "Yes, it's worth $200 to me to try this idea because
<some weird reason>", would you build it?

Actually, this is not a far-fetched possibility. I won't see the
results until September, but I have asked a well-known and respected
craftsman (whose name you know) to build something unusual for me. I'm
not saying who or what it is because the experiment may turn out to be a
disaster (and then I will hide in my cave and wait until everyone
forgets), but my curiosity is killing me right now and it's worth a few
dollars to me to hear the results for myself.

....besides which, I have heard somewhere that intentionally
concave tables exist.

Cheers,
Bill
