<><> To say that a band student does not have to march or play to
get a grade [snip]
We should pay attention to the qualifiers in this sentence ("band"
student), and also to the qualifiers which this sentence implies
(perform "in public ceremony").
The phrase "music instruction" covers a lot of territory and many
different pleasures. It is not valid to generalize from a specific
situation in order to draw conclusions about music instruction & study
in general.
Just a thought.....
Cheers,
Bill
