That's not how we parents define it - as a parent (something I have 20 years
experience with) extra curricular activities at school (in Bremerton, WA,
Clinton Twp, Michigan, and Northville, Michigan) were those supervised by
the school, outside normal hours, that do _not_ receive credit. Jazz band at
Northville High, for instance, meets after regular school hours, receives
1/2 credit, but it is not referred to by the parents as an extra-curricular
activity. Tennis and track meet after school hours and receive no credit.
The parents refer to those as extracurricular activities.

Perhaps another reason why parents and teachers don't understand each other.
