Gee, I like having my impression verified. (grin)

When our orchestra played this, the bass clarinet (who always had a "I
will nail anything that is in my part" attitude), switched to Eb and
played rock solid controlled accuracy.
I still would like to hear that section played when the conductor and
clarinet section agreed with evidence in the score "mit paradie".

btw, my first time to hear the work was live concert. I had to cover my
mouth to keep from laughing aloud in that section (and the beginning of
that movement border -of -lugubrious, and (1st mvt? the
killerbee-hornist-nest motiv).
