The issue that the band at my school is most upset about is not the letter
jacket, its just the fact that we work just as hard as the football players
and get hardly any recognition. So, all the members really want is some
recognition, and to be treated like we are an equally important part of the
school as athletics is.
There is a teacher at the school who is also a football coach, and he
thinks that the band members should learn football one night a week and the
football players should learn to march and play and instrument one night a
week. I agree with him wholeheartedly, I think that would give both groups
a new perspective on how hard the other group works.
