In his book, "Orchestral Studies for the Eb Clarinet", Peter Hadcock
indicates that Clarinets III and IV have Eb parts, but that "Clarinet III is
in Eb in the third movement only". From the excerpts given, the stronger Eb
player should have the Clarinet IV part, which goes up to altissimo G# in
the first movement. For the Eb clarinet duets in the third movement,
Hadcock indicates that the higher notes are in the third clarinet part and
"It's probably better if they trade parts", i. e., giving the upper notes to
the 4th player.
