I have an open question for the list. I got to comparing the part which i
have for the Firebird (which has numerous errors) with the McGinnis edited
excerpt book (which has errors even more numerous) and also with Peter
Hadcock's "Working Clarinetist". There is one note of which i still feel
unsure--that being the note on the first beat of the 6th bar after 10 in
the Infernal Dance. Hadcock and the part agree that it is an A above the
staff, but the C above the staff written in McGinnis just feels more
"right", since then the 5th and 6th bars perfectly mirror the 3rd and 4th.
Should i ignore the feeling and just play what is written, or is there
information that would indicate that McGinnis is indeed right (for this
note at least)?

I don't have the part in front of me right now, but I would trust Clark
McAlister's edition of the score and parts, published now by Kalmus. He
straightened out a good number of the eternal questions about that piece.
His scholarship is solid and he is very careful.
