Another aspect is that the speakers (about 4 feet tall) could not
handle the loudness that was being piped through them. The sound was
so fuzzy that I had no idea what the DJ was saying, and the melody was
equally indistinguishable most of the time. All I heard was a
monotonous 'thud' of the percussion.

I say "most of the time" because there were one or two moments
when, if I really concentrated, I could hear a melody. One time in
particular, I was fairly certain that I recognized a tune. After a
moment, I realized that I was listening to what still remained of "In
The Mood." But then I succumbed to the loudness and went outside
again.

If you want to focus on a bitter aspect of this particular
incident, the DJ set up his control panel and turntable about 10 feet
_behind_ his speakers, not in front of them where the kids were.

Cheers,
Bill
