With great interest I read the discussion on this list about the clarinet
Stadler obviously used playing the Mozart concerto. The shape of Stadler's
instrument is already known some time (when I saw the basset clarinet Sabine
Meyer is using I was astonished):

When I worked at the Catholic University of Nijmegen, a colleague of mine,
also a subscriber to this list, showed me an article from I think ''De
Gelderlander'', a regional newspaper, dealing with Eric Hoeprich's discovery
that the instrument had this oboe d'amore look. It must have been before
July 1995, as the project I was on stopped at that time. Of course Eric
Hoeprich had not yet built one, but I remember there was already the
suspection that its range would go down to low B.

When I saw Eric's photograph on Cindy'd page, he was wearing an instrument
that was exactly like what I remembered from this article.
