Come to think of it, I have heard very few Leblanc, Selmer, or Yamaha
crack stories, and none from the Rossis, Patricolas, Eatons, Howarths.
Does anyone have cracks on those instruments, whether they were fixed by
the manufacturer or not?

Yes, I play one of those brands, and it cracked after a couple of
years when the previous owner moved from seacoast to desert. It was
pinned by a local repairman.

I'm not mentioning the brand name because: (a) I don't really
view this as the manufacturer's fault; and (b) it plays beautifully
with the pins, and so I don't see the cracking as a black mark against
the manufafcturer (my teacher has expressed jealousy about its tone);
and (c) even if 25 people on this list reported incidents and one
brand was cited more often thyan others, I doubt this would be
statistically significant. Yo'd need a much larger sample, IMO.

Cheers,
Bill
